Arts for Learning auctioned works by 21 prominent artists to raise almost $10,000 to support its arts-in-education programming. The auction closed with an exhibition of the works and silent auction reception on Sunday, November 17th 2013 at Bridge Red Studios/Project Space in North Miami.

All proceeds benefitted A4L’s quality arts-based programming at sites across Miami-Dade County. The auction featured a collection of 22 works by Jose Bedia, Los Carpinteros, Yanira Collado, Lou Anne Colodny, William Cordova, Emory Douglas, John Espinosa, Luis Gispert, Ilka Hartmann, Leslie Hewitt, Al Kaplan, Gary Moore, Gean Moreno, Glexis Novoa , Robert Pruitt, Onajide Shabaka, Noelle Theard, Robert Thiele, Shoshanna Weinberger, Rick Ulysee and Purvis Young.

The Art Auction was thoughtfully curated and co-managed by internationally-renowned artist and friend of A4L, William Cordova. Inspired by his experience as an A4L volunteer, Cordova gathered pieces by notable names in the art community to expand his effort to support Arts for Learning.

According to Cordova, “We all have responsibilities to serve a greater cause. Our community exists as long as we nurture and protect it. It doesn’t matter where we are geographically; our community is essential to our own existence. If we abandon it, we lose that which nurtured us in the first place and our own presence becomes obsolete.”
