Connecting teachers, artists, and the community to better practices

A4L produces professional development sessions for teachers and artists throughout
the year to strengthen and improve the understanding, knowledge and practice of arts integration. A hallmark of A4Ls professional development offerings is the annual GET smART Summer Institute, an intensive three-day workshop on arts integration for K-12th grade educators. The institute is followed and supported by additional ongoing coaching and individualized professional development sessions throughout the school year to assist teachers in their arts integration practice.

Arts for Learnings cadre of over 100 teaching artists are invaluable to its programming. Through our professional development initiatives, such as the Mentor Artist program, A4L works with artists to connect their artistry to academic and life skill goals. A4L supports its artists in the creation of individual curriculums and programs. Through these programs teaching artists develop community partnership and collaboration skills. Furthermore, Arts for Learning provides a mechanism for peer support and ongoing mentorship as teaching artists deliver their programs in schools, preschools and after-school programs throughout Miami-Dade County.
