Arts for Learning is one of 32 Young Audiences chapters and affiliates located nationwide that are dedicated to bringing the arts to young people. The national office, Young Audiences, Inc., located in New York City, is the umbrella organization responsible for maintaining communication throughout the network, establishing national programmatic criteria and spearheading national initiatives. YA is the first non-profit organization to receive the National Medal of Arts. President Clinton praised YA's achievements in working with educational systems, the arts community and the private and public sectors to make the arts an essential part of all children's education. Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs
The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs serves a kaleidoscopic community of more than 2 million residents and 10 million annual visitors that is recognized nationally for the breadth and richness of its cultural diversity. The Department's mission, and that of its board, the Cultural Affairs Council, is to develop cultural excellence, diversity and participation throughout Miami-Dade County by strategically creating and promoting opportunities for artists and cultural organizations, and our residents and visitors who are their audiences. The Department and the Council promote, coordinate and support Miami-Dade County's more than 1,000 not-for-profit cultural organizations as well as thousands of resident artists through grants, technical assistance, public information and interactive community planning. The Department is a leader in shaping Miami-Dade County into one of the newest and most significant cultural centers in the Western Hemisphere. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Division of Life Skills & Special Projects believes that every child has the right to a complete education, and that:
